Mozilla 1.3 alpha and Opera 7 beta 2; blogging and the mainstream press
Two new browsers for you to play around with:
Related to Opera’s newest test release, is the company’s call for an “Open the Web” — that abandoning browser detection in favour of functionality testing. I must admit, this site is guilty of blocking some functionality from Opera. The filters were designed to prevent earlier versions from breaking on the site, but now with better DOM and CSS support, Opera 7 should display everything fine. I just have to update the template code…and given my workload, that could be a while.
A recent Washington Post piece shows how blogger’s forced a major American political story into the mainstream press. This is just another example illustrating why I believe the convergence fear-mongering is overrated. There are bigger press freedoms’ battles to be fought.
