eBay buys PayPal; new leaders
The little company that began as a nifty way to share money via Palm devices, has been bought by the Web site that began as a way to trade Pez dispensers. Though both systems deal in hard dollars, this long-expected deal could prove to become a stronger beachhead for the cashless society.
Getting a new leader is the hot thing to do in federal politics right now. The only party not considering this right now is the Bloc — but they’re a political paradox to begin with. The NDP’s twist on this, The Globe explains, is using election.com to allow members to choose the new leader.
The decision is a good one for a party, for a few reasons:
- it will help the party build a constituency amongst the typically wired activist who are part of the anti-globalization movement
- it could provide a vote to members who are unable to make it to the convention or are without a mailing address
- its generates a buzz
Apparently, Molson is the only one allowed to be Canadian.
