Take some time away from work
The Europeans have been doing this for a longtime, and I have been a quiet proponent of the ideas as well: taking a month off to recharge one’s batteries.
Thanks to the OPSEU strike I’ve had almost two months off, and — for the first five weeks or so — it was gave me time to catch up on my reading, do some work on this site, and spend time with my wife. Now, if only North Americans could get something like this without a political work stoppage…
In the meantime, CBC.ca gets us thinking about work.
The site has unveiled a massive feature with 60 pages (95 percent of it original content) called “The Way We Work, Canada’s Workforce in Transition.” Got it bookmarked and am working my way through what is, so far, an excellent package — especially given the beating online journalism has taken in this country recently.
“X” is it this season:
- Mac OS X,
- XBox,
- Windows XP,
- TSX,
- and now Macromedia’s Studio MX suite — including a standards-friendly Dreamweaver.
WebReference.com has a great tip on how to only load DOM-friendly scripts for the browsers that need them.
