Text and lynx
I’ve got a borderline compulsive need to outfit my work computers with a core set of browsers, but on my new machine, I strayed from the norm by pulled down a tiny browser I hadn’t used for almost seven years. That browser is/was Lynx. Viewing the Web through this little thing brought back memories of a time when gophers still ruled the Net. Everything is stripped to its core in Lynx, just text and, well, links. It’s incredible how unfriendly most sites out there appear when viewed as only text. So, if you’re debating whether you should separate content from form, a page viewed through Lynx gives you a powerful reason in favour doing just that.
