Searchable newspapers from history
Following on the heels of the Newseum’s showcase of the latest front pages, xBlog plugged the Canadian site Paper of Record (aside: its unlinkable about page has some interesting history on Canadian newspapers).
Operated by Cold North Wind, the site houses a large number of newspapers historical microfiches as searchable PDFs. You need to pay to view the archive (in Canadian dollars!), but its a great deal for any one whose wasted too many hours using awkward microfiche viewers searching for that one minor reference in an old newspaper.
