This was the main page of saila.com soon after it launched as its own domain on August 1, 1997. It was a radical overhaul trying to incorporate a metaphorical toolbar (on the left) with visual highlights to tell users what section they were in. A simple text menu sat on the right-hand side of the page.

Its back-end used SSI, as saila.com still does, but the background tile made the text more difficult to read than normal. Throughout October, style sheets were added, as was limited Dynamic HTML.
