Selling Quebecor
Talk about bizarre twist on the stale convergence theme.
Bell Globemedia (owner of CTV, The Globe and Mail, and Sympatico-Lycos) has partnered with Cogeco cable (partly owned by Rogers Communications) to buy the Quebec TV network TQS from Quebecor. Despite PKP’s braying about how proud Quebecor is to have made TQS profitable, you gotta know he’s ego is taking a beating.
By selling TQS to Cogeco, he’s given his cable/media competitors access to the previously restricted Quebec market. All this to help pay-off the accumulated debt he created when Quebecor won the bidding war for Videotron.
