Waterloo police admitted to a shocking abuse of power: planting false information in that city’s newspaper.

As a result, Waterloo’s The Record, the Cambridge Reporter, and the Guelph Mercury won’t be running Crime Stoppers reports until the papers receive full disclosure and assurances that police are prevented from falsifying crime reports.

In other newspaper news, one of the oldest daily publications (Lloyd’s List, founded in 1734) will no longer refer to ships as “she”. As a result of the publication’s desire to be in line with “other reputable international business titles” all ships will be referred to as “it”.
