Public broadcasting a “monster”
News on the CBC…
Might the Mother Corp. be cutting down on the amount of material it posts/archives online? The “archives” have always been a hallmark of the broadcasters Web site, but Barry Rueger pointed out that “The Current”’s homepage now posts a note suggesting the clips weren’t actually archives. Is cost-cutting to blame, or is there some other legal issue bubbling under the surface?
Also, Antonia Zerbisias has a good scoop on how some federal Liberal ministers feel about the national public broadcaster (here’s a hint: “[it’s] become a monster”). PM² claims he still supports it, but is no doubt eager to replace the current president Robert Rabinovitch with someone more sympathetic to the new way of doing things (both links via Bill Doskoch).
