A new Post and an Amazon for Canada

This from the National Post on June 11 the online version of the paper will unveil its new look by “jazzing up the National Post Online interface, adding new features and tinkering with the technical innards of the site” according to a message from National Post Online producer, Mitch Cooper. Good that the site is letting it’s readers know what’s happening with the site.

Just hope the new Post doesn’t get swallowed by the canada.com look.

Saturday’s Report on Business claims Amazon will open a Canadian version of the site. Amazon.ca exists now, but redirects to the U.S. site, but on June 24 it will be a standalone site offering books bought from Canadian sources to Canadian buyers in Canadian dollars.

Given the horrible state of Chapters.Indigo.ca (poor selection, three to five week delivery dates, ignoring affiliates), and Amazon’s range of services, I hope the story is true.

Also from the Globe, “Nation Builders”, a month-long feature allowing Canadians to vote for one of the 50 “people whose efforts have contributed materially, intellectually or simply in terms of national pride, to Canada's sense of coming into its own.” This years nation builder will be announced on Canada Day.

The amazing tree generator is a nice DOM script for turning lists into a collapsible outline similar to the menu on some versions of this site.
