CBC Radio 3 a masterpiece; W3C goes tableless
Not sure how I missed this, given my status as an unofficial CBC groupie, but its Web network has relaunched as weekly magazine gorgeously designed in, ahem, Flash. CBC Radio 3: Music and Modern Media looks to be what Shift once was — but with the design of a hip Wallpaper*.
As you wander through the magazine — turning pages in a very paper-like way (clicking the dog-eared top-right corner) to read the features or look at the photo galleries, rarely heard (on the Web at least) — Canadian indie music plays (you can launch the player on its own, which removes it from the magazine “page”). Although it comes from the same people, it almost puts 120seconds.com to shame.
The third issue went online today (a new issue appears every Thursday).
The W3C has ditched its table-based design on its homepage, and is now using nothing but divs and CSS. In the related FAQ/how-to, the organization explains the problems experienced (it uses floats).
