On- and offline reading
Gotta love the weekend rituals. First read the Globe while drinking some coffee (today’s mug: a two-cupper from promoting excite.ca), then grabbing my email and reading the latest Netsurfer Digest, from whence these came:
- Longtime Netheads believe that giving away content is good. Recently, people have argued doing so with music, for example, can actually boost sales. And now, a sci-fi writer has some pretty strong anecdotal evidence to support the argument for books.
- Similar arguments surround deep-linking, too. For some reason, the issue resurfaces every year or so. The bizarre thing is deep-linking is almost always beneficial to the targetted site. The fact this issue lingers makes me think the world is not yet ready for the smarter Web built around things like XLink.
