McKinsey on the online industry
Though the writing style is often dry, and the focus can be a bit to business, the McKinsey Quarterly usually has some excellent pieces about the Information Economy and online industry. For example:
- “Late edition: Another chance for newspapers on the Web” argues wireless could give the industry a chance to regain a foothold.
- In “What went wrong for on-line media?” the findings section has some revealing charts explaining problems with the online revenue models.
- “Unchained melody” shows how the music industry could double their size by embracing a new type of online distribution.
Derek Powazek tries to kill the biggest myth of Web design in a recent essay, and he does so by using many of the same points I (and a lot of others) have believed for a longtime.
