Last May, I quoted a StatMarket survey showing Netscape would jump to a 20 percent marketshare if AOL switched to the Gecko-based browser. That 14 percent gain looks to become a reality: AOL version 8 will reportedly switch from IE to Netscape. As I said then:

This is good news in that the number of standard-compliant browsers being used would dramatically increase, and the death of the bloated Netscape 4.x browser would be hastened.

Another piece of good news for those who care about tableless designs is the PVII team has almost completed a Dreamweaver extension for CSS-based layouts. The extension makes layouts that work in fourth generation browsers and up and looks to be as easy to use as Dreamweaver’s table tool. (Al Sparber previewed one of these layouts after I released my CSS Layout.)

And in the silly CSS department: my last name (and the name of this site) is alias spelled backwards.
